Did you get your fastnachts?
Today was Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent begins. Here in Boyertown there are any number of places you can get them to include the local grocery stores. But the best ones I am told are from The RT 100 Deli. Lizzie and I were driving back home from a business meeting in Fogelsville, and we decided to stop.
The RT 100 Deli, is a small little place that you would probably pass if you were not paying attention. From the few times that I have been in to the deli, I can say it does seem to have some quality sandwiches and such.
Today, in addition to Fastnachts, I had a crab cake sandwich. The owner who took our order, said the crab cakes are awesome, and made with very little filler. I have to admit, I have not had a good crab cake sandwich like these in quite some time. I’ll most certainly be stopping in for another.
As Lizzie and I were eating our lunch, the Fastnachts were just pouring out of the deli. This section of RT 100 must not see this much activity too frequently. But anyway, Lizzie and I were lucky to be able to get on of the last dozen Fastnachts that were going to be made that hour. Any additional orders were already spoken for. So next year, if you want some good Fastnachts, call the deli and order them in advance.
