Google Zeitgeist 2010 - Food and Drink Category

December 10th, 2010 · 14 Comments

I was just reading Mashables post How The World Googled in 2010 and was totally unfamiliar with the majority of the search phrases that were listed in Googles top ten search phrase list for 2010. I then Googled “Google Zeitgeist 2010″ and found the Google Zeitgeist 2010 page which indicates the phrases that were the most searched, phrases that were fastest rising in searches, fastest declining and a bunch of other categories including “Fastest Rising in Food & Drink”.

2 and 5 are in non-English language searches and the letters don’t display properly on my blog, so you’ll have to visit the Zeitgeist page to see them.

  • Fastest Rising in Food & Drink

1. masterchef
2. ????
3. cupcakes
4. jimmy johns
5. ??? ????? ????
6. dominos pizza menu
7. tudo gostoso receitas
8. guacamole recipe
9. applebees menu
10. rachel ray

If I were a foodie blogger, I would look at this list and make sure I made a few blog posts about a few of these search phrases. I already have a Guacamole recipe post, and I am sure it would not bee to hard for me to write a Dominos Pizza Menu post either. The others, well I am not to sure about them, so I would have to pass.

Back in 2007 I did a similar post on Pixelheadonline were I compared Club Penguin to Webkins(two topped searched phrases in 2007) and I still regularly get 5 -10 visitors a day to that post. Its enough traffic that I monetized the post by adding an affiliate add to the post.

So what ever your niche, stop in and check out the Google Zeitgeist list for 2010 and brainstorm some possible link bait posts you can do to drive traffic to your foodie site.

If you have a post that deals with one of these phrases, please feel free to drop it in your comment…oh comments are dofollow.
