January 28th, 2008Atlantic City NJ Dining

Last weekend, Lizzie and I took a trip to Atlantic City, Flagship View of Atlantic City NJNJ and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Flagship Fantasea Resort, which being at the end of the boardwalk, was way to far to be in walking distance in the cold winter weather.

We did do a bit of gambling on both Friday and Saturday night, and broke even on Saturday at the Claridge, but lost our gambling budget on Friday.

Where was the Grub!

Below is just a summary of our dining experiences during our Atlantic City, NJ getaway weekend. Individual posts will be linked to as they get written up.
The first meal we had, other than Wendy’s on the way up was at Bread Sticks Cafe and Grill on Saturday morning. This is located inside Resorts Casino, and I believe is open 24hrs. A good place to eat late at night that has pretty nice portion sizes.

The next morning we got up and went out in search of some breakfast. We could have eaten at the Flagship, but since it is a buffet breakfast, and Lizzie is not a fan of the buffet, we decided to get off of the board walk in search of some food. Using my Garmin Nuvi GPS unit, we first went to 3 places that were no longer existing. Thankfully we did not give up on the Nuvi, because the fourth place ended up being Annette’s in Ventnor, NJ. This is proclaimed to be the best breakfast on the island, and since it was so good, we ended up eating there both mornings of our trip.
For lunch, we had to go for subs at The White House Submarine shop that we had passed in our journeys. The outside of this submarine shop is so classic that we just had to give it a try. Thankfully we did, because we found some of the best hoagies which can hold there own to any we have had in the Philly area. Not only did we eat lunch here, but prior to heading back to PA, we called in an order of several submarines to take back for supper.White House Submarine Signage
For Dinner on Saturday, we ate at The Nostalgia Room, which was recommended to us by one of the owners of Annette’s, Cheryl Venezia.

December 21st, 2007Moccia’s Train Stop

This was taken on one of our trips to Moccia’s Train Stop. Moccia’s has great food, especially their sandwiches such as their Zep.

Stop in early as the line at Moccia’s can be quite long, although, the wait is well worth it. As good as Eve’s Lunch Zeps or a close second.

January 25th, 2007Bubba’s Pot Belly Stove

Bubba’s Pot Belly Stove outside of Quakertown was our destination last night. We were originally going to meet some friends for dinner, but they had to cancel on us due to an emergency. So Lizzie and I decided to go anyway because we both had been there years ago. Bubba’s is known for several things, the pot belly stove just inside the establishment being one. Pot Belly StoveThe others are the French Onion soup, the awesome burgers, and the steaks. Lizzie and I both however, chose to ignore our past experiences and chose to order other items. I got some huge sea scallops with Spanish rice, and Lizzie ordered what she quite frequently gets, crab cakes. The meals were quite adequate, but we both agree that ordering burgers would have been a better choice. But our growing pants sizes require that we both eat a little more of a Mediterranean diet to not only reduce our pants sizes, but to also reduce our cholesterol.

We will again visit Bubba’s Pot Belly Stove, but will only do so when we crave one of Bubba’s delicious burgers. The rustic log cabin atmospher of Bubba’s and its above average faire make it a great place for families and anyone who wants a great meal to dine. Burgers and beer are two things that make Bubba’s one of my favorite places from my past that I will continue to visit.

One can develop vitamin A deficiency quite easily but this does not hold true for vitamin D. To make up for more vitamins deficiency, vitamin water is a good solution. The top vitamins use pure extracts. Anyways, one should take care of his vitamins and nutrition quite vigorously.

December 14th, 2006Boyertown Diner | CD’s Place

A Boyertown diner with unique character is a good way to describe CD’s PlaceCD's Place (610-367-6734)located at 237 N Reading Ave in Boyertown has a classic diner menu with a few non traditional items that make it a quality diner and my favorite diner in not only Boyertown, PA , but all of Berks County. As mentioned in a prior post, Cd’s has “The Slaw Dog” which is one of my favorite items on the menu to order for lunch. Two slaw dogs and some cottage fries make a quality lunch that will not leave you hungry. CD’s has specials that run from Sunday to Sunday, and usually consist of a breakfast special omelet, a lunch special which is frequently a wrap( had a turkey, with Russian dressing the other day that was mouth watering), and a soup. Cd’s soups are legendary in the Boyertown area, and frequently run out, so if you get there at the wrong time you might miss out.

The diner is decorated with a variety of RocknRoll memorabilia such as concert tickets stubs and album covers under glass on the counters, a collage of various music celebrities that was painted by the owners daughter, and various instruments hanging around. Chris Dietz, CD's Placethe owner certainly has an eclectic taste in music. Check out the counters for a sampling of his music taste or just stop in and listen to what ever groovy tunes happen to be playing while you dine.

CD’s Place can be found by getting off of Rt 100 at the Gilbertsville exit and heading into Boyertown, you can head towards Gilbertsville on Reading Ave off of Main St. The Boyertown Diner is open at 7am M-Sat and 8am on Sunday, and closes at 2pm M-W and Saturday, and is open til 7 on Thursday and Friday. Sunday they close at noon and only serve breakfast. (610) 367-6734. Take out is available.

Lizzie’s clan is always there at about 8am on most Saturdays for breakfast, so if you get a chance stop on in and tell em Lizzie sent you.
