Lizzie and I had the great fortune to eat at Annette’s located in Ventnor, NJ, which is just outside of Atlantic City, NJ. We arrived at Annette’s as the fourth alternative, due to my Harmon Nuvi GPS sending us to three other places that were no longer existing prior to going to Annette’s. The fourth try was a charm.

Annette's

Annette’s, which is owned by Cheryl and David Venezia, is proclaimed to be the “best breakfast on the island”. Lizzie and I would have to agree, because we ended up there for breakfast both mornings of our Atlantic City trip.

I had the Nova Special the first morning which is like a lox and cream cheese bagel, and then the Asparagus Omelet special the second Nova Bagel at Annette'smorning. I would have to say, of the two, the bagel was my favorite.

The diner has a very homey feel, and Cheryl is very friendly and stops to chat with all the customers.

I also noticed that all the coffee mugs at Annette’s are different, so I’ll have to get Lizzie to send Cheryl an art mug from Lizzie’s site Fatladysingz.com.

January 28th, 2008Nostalgia Room

Atlantic City, NJ is a great place to go for the food in addition to the gambling, and if your luck at the tables is anything like mine, you would do better to just go for the food. Nostalgia Room Saturday night we dined at the Nostalgia Room which was recommended to us by Cheryl of Annette’s, which is another great place to eat at in Ventnor, NJ, which is just a short drive from Atlantic City.

Nostalgia Room

The Nostalgia Room is not a really huge place, so I would recommend calling ahead. It is also a BYOB establishment, but if you forget to bring a bottle of wine, a bottle of wine as well as some cash(credit cards not taken) can be gotten next door.

Lizzie had Pan Seared Sea Scallop appetizer, and Rockport Shrimp and Crab Cakes, which she proclaimed to be the best of 2008. Even though the year has just begun, she said that they ranked up there with the Bar Harbor Hotel Crab Cakes, which were the best Crab Cakes of 2007. She then ended her meal with the Flour-less Chocolate Torte.

I had the Martin Shrimp appetizer and the Flaming Rack of Lamb and ended the meal with their Bananas Foster.

The Nostalgia Room is a great little place that we would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Atlantic City Area. With Louis Armstrong playing in the background, combined with the accommodating wait staff of the Nostalgia Room, your visit to the Nostalgia Room will not disappoint.

January 28th, 2008Atlantic City NJ Dining

Last weekend, Lizzie and I took a trip to Atlantic City, Flagship View of Atlantic City NJNJ and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Flagship Fantasea Resort, which being at the end of the boardwalk, was way to far to be in walking distance in the cold winter weather.

We did do a bit of gambling on both Friday and Saturday night, and broke even on Saturday at the Claridge, but lost our gambling budget on Friday.

Where was the Grub!

Below is just a summary of our dining experiences during our Atlantic City, NJ getaway weekend. Individual posts will be linked to as they get written up.
The first meal we had, other than Wendy’s on the way up was at Bread Sticks Cafe and Grill on Saturday morning. This is located inside Resorts Casino, and I believe is open 24hrs. A good place to eat late at night that has pretty nice portion sizes.

The next morning we got up and went out in search of some breakfast. We could have eaten at the Flagship, but since it is a buffet breakfast, and Lizzie is not a fan of the buffet, we decided to get off of the board walk in search of some food. Using my Garmin Nuvi GPS unit, we first went to 3 places that were no longer existing. Thankfully we did not give up on the Nuvi, because the fourth place ended up being Annette’s in Ventnor, NJ. This is proclaimed to be the best breakfast on the island, and since it was so good, we ended up eating there both mornings of our trip.
For lunch, we had to go for subs at The White House Submarine shop that we had passed in our journeys. The outside of this submarine shop is so classic that we just had to give it a try. Thankfully we did, because we found some of the best hoagies which can hold there own to any we have had in the Philly area. Not only did we eat lunch here, but prior to heading back to PA, we called in an order of several submarines to take back for supper.White House Submarine Signage
For Dinner on Saturday, we ate at The Nostalgia Room, which was recommended to us by one of the owners of Annette’s, Cheryl Venezia.
